Supports Required Transvaginal Ultrasounds for Women Terminating Pregnancies

Barbara Comstock had the courage to support legislation requiring women to have an ultrasound wand inserted into them to dissuade against making a really spoOOoky decision. Help Barbara penetrate the irresponsibility away.

Barbara Comstock was Leader of Opposition Research for the RNC, Advancing the Field with Her Work and Initiative

Barbara Comstock knows how boring engaging on the issues can be. We need someone who can entertain us like those magazines do while we’re checking out at the grocery store. Americans needs to focus on hyperbolic gossip. America needs Barbara Comstock.

Barbara Comstock was leader in organizing the defense of Tom Delay and Scooter Libby, among others.

They say if you want a friend in Washington get a dog. Barbara Comstock loves dogs and loyalty isn’t just talk with her. She’s defended some of the most indefensible, like L. Scooter Libby, who was indicted for exposing a clandestine CIA agent for partisan retribution, and Tom Delay, who was indicted for money laundering.

Barbara Comstock Loyally Campaigning For Mitt Romney

In this clip, Barbara Comstock defends a Romney ad that fraudulently claimed Obama was robbing seniors of  $716 billion in medicaid coverage. The ad referred to a bill that reduced excessive payments to health care providers, and passed with huge bipartisan support, including Paul Ryan’s. The bill actually reduced the out of pocket payments seniors made, while Romney’s plan (restoring the windfall payments to providers) would have increased such payments from seniors an estimated $342 per year. The ad was quickly debunked. Learn More

Barbara Comstock Defends Party Criminals

From the DailyKos Barbara Comstock, who wants to be the chief lawmaker for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, has a fatal attraction to law-breakers.  She has literally made a career of defending Republicans guilty of crimes, corruption, even treason.  And by “defending”, I don’t mean saying a few nice things about — I mean creating and leading big legal defense funds and PR campaigns aimed to keep these crooks out of jail. Don’t believe me?  Here are two names to recall from the recent past: “Scooter” Libby and Tom De Lay. Exhibit A: I. Lewis “€œScooter”€ Libby, Dick Cheney’s Chief of Staff, was notorious for leaking the name of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame in 2003 — to punish her husband for revealing the faulty intelligence underlying George Bush’s claims that Saddam Hussein’s Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.  With this act of political retribution, the man threatened the lives of agents in the field. So who stepped forward to “mastermind the Scooter Libby defense committee”?  None other than Comstock, “a corporate lobbyist and Bush loyalist bearing checks with Libby’s name on them.” But she was just helping a friend defend his innocence, right? No, actually the very guilty Libby was convicted on four counts. But at least she did this all out in the open, right?  Well, not exactly: The fund is not obliged under the law to disclose any details, including the number of donors, their identities or the amounts given. Barbara Comstock, a Republican communications strategist and an official of the fund, declined to disclose any of those details, except to say that there had been “hundreds...

Barbara Comstock Shills on Behalf of Romney Campaign Lies

Barbara Comstock was a prominent campaigner for the Romney camp in 2012. This clip shows her defending a Romney ad that fraudulently claimed that Obama was “robbing” seniors of  $716 billion of medicaid coverage. The ad referred to a bill that reduced what amounted to excessive payments for health care providers. The bill passed with huge bipartisan support, including Paul Ryan’s. The bill reduced the out of pocket payments seniors made. Romney’s plan (restoring the windfall payments to providers) actually would have increased out of pocket payments by seniors an estimated $342 per year. The ad was quickly debunked, much to the chagrin of the Romney soldiers enlisted to shill for...

Barbara Comstock Mudslinger

From TPM: Barbara Comstock earned her cred as one of the GOP’s top attack dogs. She was a leading crusader among Republicans interested in impeaching then-President Bill Clinton, served as the chairwoman of I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s defense fund and ran opposition research for the Republican National Committee. And her next step could be heading for Congress. Currently a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, she was one of the first to jump into the race for retiring Rep. Frank Wolf’s (R-VA) House seat. Comstock’s connections to that seat are deep — in the early ’90s she worked as an aide to Wolf. And her candidacy is something Republicans are excited about — she’s earned a reputation on the right as one of the party’s up-and-comers. A Republican campaign official talking to TPM compared Comstock to Republican rising stars around the country like Mia Love in Florida or Lizbeth Benacquisto in Florida. But while she’s been touted as a rising star, Comstock has roots in liberalism. She interned for the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) before seeing “the light” and becoming a Republican. “I remember in Kindergarten we had Impeach Nixon signs that we made.” said Republican pollster and strategist Kellyanne Conway, a longtime friend of Comstock’s. After converting to conservatism, Comstock — who didn’t respond to TPM’s requests for an interview — moved from Wolf’s office to working for the House Oversight committee, where she appears to have whetted her appetite for investigations. She was closely involved in the GOP probes of the “Travelgate” and “Filegate” scandals during the Clinton Administration, assembling a veteran team of Republicans...

Barbara Comstock Supports Transvaginal Ultrasound Requirement

While in the Virginia House of Delegates, Barbara Comstock supported several bills that are remarkably offensive to the interests of women. First, Comstock voted in favor of  legislation to limit the funding of badly needed women’s health clinics (HB 30), followed by HB 924 to shut many of them down altogether. Then came HB 462, a bill so distasteful that it received national attention, and was even featured in the poignant Daily Show clip below. Already women considering an abortion in Virginia were required to undergo an ultrasound and wait 24 hours before they were eligible for the procedure.  This legislation changed the ultrasound requirement so that the ultrasound had to be transvaginal (where a wand is inserted into the vagina) as opposed to transabdominal (the normal kind). The same bill also sought to outlaw several common methods of birth control, including the pill and IUDs. It’s hard not to see such a change (requiring the ultrasound be transvaginal) as being designed to shame women, a move experts are calling “horrendously offensive...
